Walk-Through Colon at Darke County Health Fair
Wayne HealthCare is excited to partner with the Tina Kiser Cancer
Concern Coalition and Southeastern Med from Cambridge, OH to exhibit
the inflatable “Kiser Colon at the Darke County Health Fair on October
13th in the Youth Building at the Darke County Fairgrounds. The colon
display will be in the Coliseum from 8:00am to 4:00pm.
The 2015 Health Fair, open to people of all ages, will feature over 60
different displays and many FREE health screenings. Attendees are
welcome to walk through an inflatable colon, play BINGO and have a
chance to win Darke County Chamber Bucks and other door prizes!
The inflatable colon is an interactive educational tool that allows
visitors to get a close-up look at healthy tissue, tissue with
nonmalignant diseases and various stages of cancers, symptoms,
treatments and early detection of colon cancer.
Dr. John Dutro will be available to discuss the importance of colon
cancer screenings and answer questions. Individuals who walk through
the colon will also have the opportunity to win a basket of healthy
goodies.
The TKC3 Coalition was named after a member, Tina Kiser, who was
inspirational in community education about colon cancer. Tina was a
devoted wife, loving mother, active community member and a strong
fighter. Although Tina was diagnosed with late stage colon cancer in
2004, she was driven to raise awareness about this deadly disease. She
was an active coalition member who traveled to Columbus and Washington
D.C. on multiple occasions to lobby for colonoscopy screening
legislation to save others from her same plight. In December 2008, Tina
Kiser lost her courageous four-year battle against colon cancer. Her
strength and desire to educate others about colon cancer inspired the
Colorectal Task Force to rename itself the Tina Kiser Colorectal Cancer
Coalition as a memorial tribute.
