the fourth annual Run For the Rails
Museum exhibits feature 150th anniversary of Lincoln Funeral Train
Runners are welcome to participate in the Bradford Ohio Railroad
Museum's Run for the Rails September 12. This is the 4th annual event
for the museum. The runners and their family are welcome to visit the
museum after the race for refreshments and to tour the museum exhibits.
This year the exhibits feature the 150th anniversary of the President
Abraham Lincoln Funeral train's journey from Washington DC- Springfield
Illinois. The Train stopped at Bradford for fuel and water on its
historic journey April 30 1865. This exhibit will close at the end of
the museum's season October 31, 2015.
This year the Top Male and Female Runners will be awarded a cash prize.
This is possible thanks to the sponsorship and generosity of Greenville
National Bank. Door Prizes will be awarded to participants after the
race at the museum head quarters.
The 3.1 mile race will start and finish at the BF Tower. The tower is
located at 501 E Main St Bradford The BF Tower is 2 blocks east of the
museum head quarters down the railroad sidewalk through the Bradford
Park.
Registration is at the museum headquarters at 200 N Miami Avenue
located on the corner of Miami and Main Street Bradford. Parking
is available 1/2 block north of the museum headquarters.
The runners can register the morning of the race from 7.30- 8.15 am.
They can also go to the museum website www.bradfordrrmuseum.org and
obtain a registration form or at the museum during open hours Saturday
from 10 am- 4 pm.
Proceeds from the race will be going toward the museum's Exhibit
Project that is being supported with a capital appropriation from the
State of Ohio.
The Run is a fun and healthy way to support a preservation project that
will benefit the community for years to come.
The museum volunteers will also be helping with the replica Lincoln
Funeral Train Exhibit that is coming to Troy , Ohio September 10- 13.
Run Flyers can be picked up at the museum's tent.
