DCP Monarch
Mania Date Change
Monarch Mania at Darke County Parks originally scheduled for September
5th at 2pm will now take place on September 12th at 2pm at the Nature
Center. Darke County Parks apologizes for any inconvenience but still
invites everyone out to learn more about monarchs. The story of the
monarch butterfly could be written as a miraculous tale. Their journey
to Mexico along with their beauty have captured the hearts of many. In
2013, their population decreased dramatically due to several
factors. In the Midwest, and particularly here in Darke County,
we play a crucial role in preserving the habitat needed for monarch
survival. Head out to Shawnee Prairie Preserve Nature Center on
St. Rt. 502 west of Greenville on Saturday, September 12th at 2pm for
an afternoon devoted to exploring more about monarch butterflies. For
any questions about this or any other programs, please call the Nature
Center at 548-0165.
