Autumn
Decorating at the Library
The Greenville Public Library is thrilled to have Katie Gabbard from
The Ivy League shop in downtown Greenville to give a class called
“Decorating with Autumn Flair” on Thursday October 1st at 6:30.
As always we will meet in the upstairs room and enjoy
refreshments!
Katie says “Ever wonder how to get that "fresh from the magazine" look
for your home? Decorating is all about mixing tried and true elements
with pops of unexpected details. With Autumn peeking around the corner,
it's the ideal time to discover how to envision, gather, and layer
details to achieve interesting, nature-inspired "exhibits" within your
abode! We'll spend the evening discussing and illustrating gorgeous
decorating ideas displays that you can create for your own
space.”
Some fun facts from Katie: “I founded the shop in 2007 on the first day
of Spring. I first studied fine art before finding my
entrepreneurial spirit and love for botanical art. I think that my
earlier focus on art has really affected the style and design of my
work. Because of the style and atmosphere within the shop, we
have recently been able to explore various interior design projects. We
hope to create interiors that embrace "pride of place"!
“My favorite element in the shop currently: the baby grand piano that
we use to display our handmade jewelry. It's a huge (and heavy) piece
but, amazingly, shoppers often don't notice it immediately. It's large
but really subtle.
“We travel extensively for our wedding work. We have worked with brides
in Cincinnati, Kentucky, Columbus, Dayton, and everywhere in between!
We are elated that our reputation continues to spread.
“We grow a lot of our own flowers. My parents have a farm outside of
Arcanum and we plant dahlias, foliage, and sunflowers for the shop.
It's really beautiful. Favorite flower: Celosia. It's velvety and
the colors can't be topped.
“Our website is ivyleagueflorist.com. Because of my love for
displays and merchandising (I'm obsessed), I recently launched a side
project called The Display Case. It's a blog devoted to display ideas
for artists, shops, and designers. It can be found at
thedisplaycaseblog.com.” Thank you, Katie! See everyone at the
class!
