Youth For Christ
How to be a
Hero from Home
The week of September 21-26 is your opportunity to be a make a
difference in a young person’s life by taking at least one of the
following actions: Donate, enroll, or bid. Here’s how:
Donate:
On Line: Go to yfcmv.org/heroes to make a gift using a credit or
debit card. You might consider even setting up a recurring gift
so you can help teens come to know Christ all year long.
By Mail: Simply return a gift along with the enclosed response
card.
To Learn More: Go to yfcmv.org/heroes and click the “learn more”
button to read about the campaign and explore your giving options.
Enroll: Sign up with Kroger and Amazon to have money
rebated to Youth for Christ for each purchase you make with your Kroger
Plus Card or through Amazon’s “Smile” site. Neither of these
opportunities increase your cost in any way, but both let you make a
difference in kids’ lives each time you shop.
On Line: Go to yfcmv.org/heroes and click the Kroger or Amazon
Smile button to read all the details or begin the sign-up process right
away.
By Phone: Call YFC at 937-548-2477 and we’ll be glad to handle
the registration process for you. For us to sign you up with
Kroger, you’ll need your Kroger Plus Card (just the rewards card most
shoppers have) handy.
To Learn More: Go to yfcmv.org/heroes and click the “learn more”
button or give us a call.
Bid: The Heroes from Home auction allows you to bid on great
services and merchandise anytime between now and September 26th, when
live bidding is added via video stream beginning at 6:00 pm. You
can submit your maximum bids for items and await the results, or follow
the bidding when it goes live and bid in the moment. (If you
submit a maximum bid, it will be applied “as needed,” so in essence,
you only match what others are willing to pay. But as the first
bidder you always win in the case of a tie until your “maximum bid” is
exceeded.) Your bids help kids, so we ask you to bid generously,
allowing the value of kids to guide your bidding even more than the
value of what you are trying to buy.
On Line: Go to yfcmv.org/heroes and click the “bid” button see
items, register, and begin to submit bids, or click the “learn more”
button to get more details first.
By Phone: Call YFC at 937-548-2477 and we’ll be glad to go online
and submit your bids for you. We’ll need to get credit card
information from you at that time.
In Person: Stop by the YFC office to take a close look at the
items for sale and we can submit your bids for you on line while you’re
there. If you want, you can even show up at the Edwards Auctions
facility at 5862 Kruckeberg Road near Greenville at 6:00 pm on
Saturday, September 26 and participate live as Rich Edwards does an
internet video stream of each item. Don’t expect a crowd to be
present, but you can watch on a monitor and submit your bids live along
with those bidding back at home.
To Learn More: Go to yfcmv.org/heroes and click the “learn more”
button or give us a call at 937-548-2477.

One Heroes From Home story…
September 22, 2015
Dear Friend,
A childhood accident left Gabby unable to move quickly or gracefully
like her peers. An abusive father left deep scars on her soul
that proved to be more of a handicap than her damaged muscles. By
the time she moved to Greenville, she had begun to see herself as
worthless. The names she called herself are ones most people
would never allow themselves to say.
To Gabby, the teens and adults who reached out to her at school and
welcomed her into Campus Life are heroes. Through their love she
began to see herself as loveable. Because of their
trustworthiness, Gabby has felt safe enough to begin tearing down the
nearly impenetrable wall she had built around her heart. Most
importantly, through their lives, Gabby has seen a glimpse of Jesus and
is beginning to trust Him as her Savior and Lord.
You might think that Gabby isn’t typical because of her injuries.
On the outside that’s certainly true, but on the inside, I’m not so
sure. YFC staff and volunteers will tell you that a very large
number of kids today have serious struggles on the inside, struggles
much more severe than we remember from when we were kids. These
teens could sure use a hero. They desperately need to know the
Savior!
I’m writing to ask if you will consider being a hero for a young person
who needs to know Christ. If you can physically come with us into
the lives of kids we’re excited to talk with you. But if not, I’m
asking you to consider participating in the “Heroes from Home”
campaign, which will take place on September 21-26.
The “Heroes from Home” campaign offers three ways YOU can help a
kid: Donate, enroll, or bid. The enclosed information tells
you how, and it’s easy to participate. Any action you take can be
online, through the mail, over the phone, or just stop in.
Whatever way you choose to get involved, it will make a difference for
a Darke or Preble County teenager.
Thank you for considering this request and for your involvement in this
movement to bring teens into relationship with Christ.
For youth and for Christ,
Neal Crawford
Executive Director
