Midmark
Corporation to Host “4 Miles for Heart and Health”
Sweetest Day event will honor Midmark Teammate’s legacy, promote heart
disease awareness and prevention
DAYTON, Ohio, Aug. 9, 2016 — Midmark Corporation today announced it
will partner with Wayne HealthCare Foundation, Rocketship Sports
Management and the Winery at Versailles to host “4 Miles for Heart and
Health” on Oct. 15, 2016. The inaugural event will raise awareness and
funds for accessible heart disease tests and is open to the public.
“4 Miles for Heart and Health” participants will walk, jog or run the
four miles from Midmark’s Versailles offices to the Winery at
Versailles in honor of Midmark Teammate Bob Menke. With a healthy
lifestyle and no family history of heart disease, Bob’s condition went
undiagnosed, and he suddenly passed away in 2015 at the age of 38.
Through this event, Bob’s family, Midmark and its “Feel the H.E.A.T.”
wellness team hope to increase community accessibility to coronary
calcium scans, which are available at most hospitals. The test
identifies calcification and plaque build-up in coronary arteries,
helping to identify potential heart disease complications.
Mitch Eiting, global community relations manager at Midmark, believes
the event will encourage community members to promote preventative
heart care and discuss screenings with their doctor.
“Supporting healthy lifestyles for our teammates, their families and
our communities has long been a core value of Midmark,” said Eiting.
“We are pleased to help educate the community about heart health while
honoring Bob’s legacy.”
As part of its partnership with Midmark, Wayne HealthCare will have
information at the event about self-directed testing and vascular
screenings, including carotid vascular ultrasound, abdominal aorta
vascular ultrasound and peripheral arterial disease screening.
“Wayne HealthCare Foundation is proud to be a partner for the “4 Mile 4
Heart” event,” said Lauren Henry, director of Wayne HealthCare
Foundation. “Vascular screenings can help identify risks that could
lead to a stroke or heart attack, and prevention education is a large
part of our community health initiatives. We are committed to raising
awareness and prevention in our local communities.”
