Night on Wave Channel 5
Did you miss seeing the candidates at the recent League of Women
Voters’ Candidates Night? You can watch the candidates on Wave
Channel 5/Greenville Public Access TV.
Please be sure to see the program at the many convenient times. It
lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes and will be broadcast without any editing
at the following: Thursday, March 10 at 11 AM, 4:30 PM and 10 PM;
Friday, March 11 at 11 AM, 4 PM and 8 PM, Saturday, March 12 at 5
PM and 8 PM, Sunday, March 13 at 4 PM only and Monday, March 14 at 11
AM and 6 PM.
The event begins with very brief introductions by unopposed Darke
County candidates on the Primary Election ballot who were in
attendance. Then there are introductions from contested
candidates for the Republican Primary for the 12 Senate seat (presently
occupied by Keith Faber, who is term limited) and then the 8th
Congressional District (John Boehner’s seat).
The main portion of the event focused on the Republic Primary for
County Commissioner: Matthew Aultman, Freddie E. Dean and Joe
LeMaster. The successful Republican candidate will face the
Democratic candidate, Leon Rogers, in the General Election. The
Commnissioner candidates were given two minute introductory
speeches. Following that, they answered questions submitted by
the audience and discussed issues. They concluded with a one
minute statement.
In person early/absentee voting is continuing at the Darke County Board
of Elections, 300 Garst Ave. in Greenville. During the week of March 7
– 11, voting is available there from 8 AM – 7 PM, Saturday, March 12
voting is from 8 AM – 4 PM; Sunday, March 13, 1 – 5 PM and Monday,
March 14 from 8 AM – 2 PM.
The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan political organization
with the major purpose being to inform voters about the candidates and
issues. Special thanks to Jeramy Toombs of Wave TV 5 for
videotaping the evening, Todd Kaiser from Bach to Rock for the sound
system and for setting up the equipment, to the American Legion for use
of their facility and to Lori Hoover of Greenville Schools for their
help with the broadcast times. If you haven’t voted
early/absentee, please remember to vote on Tuesday, March 15.
