Edison State
Holds 5K to Benefit Seth Bishop
Edison State Community College’s 5K for a Cause will be held on
Saturday, October 29, 2016, at the Piqua Campus. The race is held
annually to benefit community members in need. This year’s race will
benefit Seth Bishop, of Sidney, Ohio, with his fight against cancer.
Diagnosed with testicular cancer in June of this year, Bishop’s cancer
has spread to his lymph nodes and lungs. Seth is a 2015 graduate of
Fairlawn High School in Sidney, where he was active in baseball and
basketball. In his free time, Seth enjoys playing PlayStation and Xbox.
“Seth has been so very strong not only mentally, but physically as
well,” said Sue Bishop, Seth’s mother.
“I am overwhelmed by all of the support that we have received from
Shelby County and the surrounding area,” added Bishop. “So many people
have reached out and sent cards of encouragement and hope that Seth
will win this battle. This race is another kind offering of support for
Seth.”
Registration begins at 8 a.m., followed by the official start of the
race 9 a.m. Beginning on the East end of Edison State’s Piqua Campus,
the five-kilometer race is an out-and-back course, and is run entirely
on pavement.
Proceeds raised from the event will help offset costs associated with
Bishop’s cancer treatments.
Those interested in participating can pre-register for the event online
now through October 27 at www.edisonohio.edu/5k. Entry fees are $20 for
pre-registered participants and $25 for race day registrations.
Pre-registered participants will receive a free t-shirt and additional
shirts will be sold for $5 on race day.
For more information about the event, contact Nate Cole Director of
