American Red
Cross Seeking Volunteers to Fulfill Humanitarian Services
Training classes available for a variety of roles
GREENVILLE, OH (Sept. 29, 2016) - The Northern Miami Valley Ohio Red
Cross is seeking volunteers to help the organization fulfill its
humanitarian mission. It is specifically looking for those interested
in serving in one of three particular areas, and is offering free
training in those areas during October. This means individuals can
begin serving almost immediately. The three areas are:
Veteran Visitation | In order to honor our nation’s veterans, the Red
Cross visits those who live in the area’s assisted living facilities to
offer companionship and thank them for their service. Veteran
visitation training is being held Thursday, Oct. 27, from 1:00
p.m.-3:00 p.m. A refresher training course for established veteran
visitors is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 27, from 3:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.
General presentation | The Red Cross receives numerous requests
throughout the course of the year from groups looking for someone to
talk about the Red Cross’s mission and programs at various events.
General presentation training is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 13, from
1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.
“Volunteers are the life blood of our mission delivery and the way we
reach our community”, stated Lynne Gump, Executive Director, “We are
always looking to recruit new members.” All October trainings are
at the American Red Cross office in Troy at 1314 Barnhart Rd. To become
a Red Cross volunteer and sign up for training, go to
