Agronomic Crop
Research Experience (ACRE) Internship
The Ohio State University Agronomic Crops Team is continuing a summer
program to provide a rich training experience to undergraduate
students. These paid internship positions are designed to expose
students to a diversity of disciplines through on-farm research.
Students will gain real-world experience in scouting, sampling and
evaluating agronomic crops in Ohio.
ACRE Program Goals:
Provide valuable, hands-on training in a variety of agronomic crop
disciplines
Provide a network of research assistants to help collect data and
monitor field trials throughout Ohio
Provide support to agronomic crop county educators to expand
independent research initiatives
Internships will be located at one of 7 county extension offices in
Ohio, and paired with an active agronomic crop county educator as a
supervisor. Interns will be expected to work independently and
professionally.
ACRE Intern Responsibilities:
Assist with crop scouting, sampling, field data collection, laboratory
analysis, data entry, field plot maintenance, and crop reporting
Meet regularly with other interns to discuss completed work and
challenges, and to plan for upcoming tasks
Attend trainings by State Specialists, Agronomic Field days, and tours
of industry facilities
The program will last approximately 12 weeks (mid May - mid August),
with a mandatory training in Wooster in late May. Applicants must have
a valid drivers license and a reliable vehicle to travel between farms
and research sites.
