Attention Darke
County Teens: Be a “Majority” Teen Leader
From Kelly Harrison
Prevention Specialist
There is a statewide “We are the Majority” Teen leader group for
7th-12th graders focusing on peer led prevention, that meets once a
month in Columbus. I am sharing the info in case teens or anyone
who works with teens wants to offer this opportunity to apply online
(below). It is a great opportunity!!! Deadline is June 18th
to apply this year.
No one has ever been on the youth council for Darke County, but I would
love to see it happen. I believe meetings are on Saturdays once a
month and I am sure they understand and can work around sport
schedules. If a few go, we could arrange carpooling and I could
drive a couple of times during the year as well. This group plans
the huge WATM Rally held in Columbus in April.
There is also an application to attend Teen Institute and our county is
offering funding to pay for a few attendees!
If you or someone you know applies, please let me know! I will
answer any questions the best I can for students interested in
participating!

Be Part of
Something Big — Join the Youth Council
If you know a young person age 14-18 who is active in youth-led
prevention and wants to work with other youth from across the state on
projects like the We Are the Majority Rally and peer-to-peer prevention
workshops, have them fill out an application to become an OYLPN Youth
Council member by June 18. To learn more about Youth Council, check out
our website and watch our video on Youtube.
