The Annie Oakley Parade… an Annual Tradition
Photos by Jessica Transue and Dylan Hoover, Teen Scribes
The Annie Oakley Festival has a long history in Darke County. It honors
the county’s favorite daughter, Little Miss Sure Shot… Annie Oakley. A
tradition of the festival is the parade. It starts at the Garst Museum,
heads south on Broadway and through downtown Greenville, then continues
south on Washington to Fair, then west to the Darke County Fairgrounds.
A long trek… unless of course you are riding... Read More. More Community.

PLAYING CHICKEN OVER THE DEBT CEILING
|
Oh what a feeling, when we’re posturing on the ceiling
By Jim Surber
I apologize to Lionel Richie for this title, but for the last few weeks
we’ve witnessed an impending train wreck, caused by many irresponsible
people, that has been building to its inevitable collision for over a
decade. The latest political game of “chicken” over raising the debt
ceiling would be downright funny, if what depended upon it wasn’t so
serious. Much of what is occurring in Congress may be... Read More. More Opinion. |

sent out 27 letters to churches in the area. The letter was an
invitation to any local church having an interest in providing free

them the latest technology, including Android phones and iPads. But
their personal devices are just part of the high-tech world of
collegiate education. Rapid industry changes have forced universities
to abandon previous teaching methods and evolve their classrooms to... Read More. More News. |

"SAFE AND SUCCESSFUL" ABORTIONS
|
Townhall...
Signs, Signs, Everywhere a Sign
By Kathryn Lopez
Sometimes, the yelling stops long enough to remember that there are
real people involved in abortions. And not just the youngest one, who
doesn’t get a say in the decision. I read the other day a piece about
the “safe and successful” telemedicine abortions, getting “high grades”
in Iowa. That’s an abortion where a doctor... Read

HANDLING BULLIES IN THE "GOOD OLD DAYS"
|
Townhall...
The Bullied Gene
By Mike Adams
Yesterday, when I was arguing with a liberal he told me I was entirely
too harsh in my assessment of today’s youth. He told me specifically
that I needed to be aware of the fact that in 21st Century America one
out of five boys gets bullied in school on a “regular basis.” I don’t
know where he got that statistic but it really made me ashamed of my
country. We need to do...
