Two day pulling event in the fair’s future?
By George Starks
GREENVILLE - “I was totally shocked.” When Duane ‘Lum’ Edwards, long
time voice of the tractor pulls, walked into the Darke County fair
board office just one day before the annual tractor pulls, he never
knew what was coming. With the events growing by leaps and bounds,
seating has been added over the years to accommodate packed houses.
Even with added seats, it wasn’t enough as many would miss the event
due to a lack of seats. Now, two days of pulling are in the works as
the Darke County Fair... Read More. More Sports.

By Elaine Bailey
A number of new records were set by the Domestic Arts department during
the 2011 Great Darke County Fair. Harry Niswonger, an
accomplished, eighty-five-years young woodworker, won two rosettes. And
he was a first time exhibitor! Nine hundred and seventy-one items made
by 217 exhibitors were entered... Read More. More Community. |

Aphids arrived in Darke County last week
By Justin Petrosino, ANR Extension Educator
I hope everyone is enjoying the Great Darke County Fair. I have had my
share of fun grilling at the Pork Producers grill and eating enough
fried foods elsewhere to make any heart skip a beat! Today let’s take a
fair break to talk about economic thresholds. Economic thresholds are a
level of a pest infestation that a farmer, consultant or crop
production... Read More. More Opinion.

Veteran’s Day at the Fair
By Al Bliss
This was a special day for me and from the vantage point of an
interested observer, a raft/gaggle/bunch of other soiled seniors spent
some time at the GREAT DARKE COUNTY FAIR, said hello to other veterans
and had a good day. The age of the majority of the veterans at the Fair
was consistently very senior. In other words with only a few
exceptions, the gray... Read More. More Community. |

CHILD LABOR... YOU'D RATHER THEY STARVE?
|
FoxNews...
Almost Everything We’re Taught Is Wrong
By John Stossel
We grow up learning that some things are just bad: child labor, ticket
scalping, price gouging, kidney selling, blackmail, etc. But maybe
they’re not. What I love about economics is that it can show that what
seems harmful is actually good for society. It illuminates what common
sense overlooks. This was the subject of my Fox Business show last
week. It... Read
