Values for a Lifetime? By Bob Rhoades, Senior Scribe

Probably!  My introduction to education started in 1950 at St. Mary’s School at 3rd and Elm in Greenville.  Under the most capable tutelage of the Sisters of Charity from Mt. Saint Joseph’s in Cincinnati we all learned our ABC’s and 123’s.  My first grade teacher was Sister Terence Marie, a young nun in her first teaching assignment.  In those days, there were two grades together, 1st and 2nd, 3rd and 4th, 5th and 6th and the elder statesmen of the school the 7th and 8th grade each with one nun guiding our learning.  That was sort of neat because you were always learning something new or reviewing something from the past. They always say that you learn best by observation... Read More. See More Opinion.

KIDNAP REPORT FOLLOW-UP

Follow-up to Sunday night’s kidnap report about 10 p.m.
By Lyn Bliss, Senior Scribe

At approximately 10:50 a.m., I talked to Detective Baker at the Sheriff’s office… They will make no comment regarding the kidnap call last night.  When I inquired if someone making a fraudulent kidnap report is prosecuted, he said no comment would be issued. I asked if I could call him back tomorrow and he said yes.

Posted at approximately 10 p.m. Sunday…

Kidnap Report just heard on the scanner: There had been a call for money. It happened on 47. Involves Darke County Sheriff's Department. Union City and Randolph Co. Ind. Officers are in Union City. Followup: The kidnap must be serious, as they are now doing two-way and telephone communications rather than on the scanner. Sounds like it may involve something up around Sidney, too. Confirmation by Sheriff Dept. reported.

Reason Foundation… He Loves the Mandate, He Loves It Not.
The Obama administration’s individual mandate flip-flops.
By Peter Suderman

There’s an old game played by love-struck teenagers trying to figure out what the object of their affection thinks of them. Take a flower and pull the petals off one-by-one. For each petal, alternate between saying “she loves me” and “she loves me not.” Whichever refrains corresponds with... Read More. See More Blogs.
