It really was ‘bigger and badder’
By Bob Robinson
Greenville Eagles Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks
entertained thousands - By all accounts, the crowd was bigger than last
year, possibly even hitting the 3,000 mark judging by the wide pockets
of celebrants over the approximately 7-8 acre expanse of manicured
grounds. By all accounts, both bands were a hit. Tempest entertained
hundreds with its 60’s music in the afternoon; headliner Classified
entertained thousands… listening and dancing while waiting for dark... Read More. More Events.

A Memorable July 4th
Gathering together and watching fireworks for the 4th of July is one of
this country’s longest-standing traditions. Even as a young boy, I can
remember the excitement that came with the day. It was one of the most
enjoyable times to gather with family and friends. However, as we enjoy
the festivities that come with celebrating our nation’s independence,
we must honor the sacrifices and personal risk put forth by the
extraordinary leaders who united our... Read More. More Opinion.

Having a Thankful Fourth of July
As I spend time throughout the 79th House District, working on
legislation in Columbus, and simply visiting with my family and
friends, I am constantly reminded of all the rights as an America that
I’m exercising on a daily basis. In our busy lives, it’s often hard to
routinely think about how fortunate we are as Americans. Even
when we do, we don’t often think of where our freedoms originate. For
this reason, it’s important... Read More. More Opinion. |

Senior Citizen Benefits
In My Opinion
By Sharon Hopper
Why in the world is AARP and the rest of the senior advocates sitting
so silently by as the government raises benefits for everyone else
except our nations Senior Citizens on Social Security? We are the
people who fought in the wars that have made us who we are today and
the people who have made this country prosperous beyond words. We are
the people who have set the standards for... Read More. More Opinion. |

Summer Camps Begin at Darke County Parks!
During the week of June 13-17, the Darke County Parks hosted their
first of many summer camps, “Paddling, Hiking & Camping”. The young
campers had a blast learning the ins and outs of their canoes and
kayaks on a local pond, taking advantage of the gorgeous summer weather
by splashing around... Read More. More Community. |

Hold the Line
Last night, Eagle Publishing’s softball team held the line against the
Heritage Foundation with a final score of 16-12. As much as I love the
Heritage Foundation, the visiting team gave them a drubbing. Well done
guys! On another matter of holding the line, there is a lot of
handwringing out there about how to actually implement the Cut, Cap,
and Balance Pledge—the new conservative pledge asking members of
Congress to (1) make serious cuts, (2) cap...

The New Desperation of Team Obama
By Lurita Doan
Team Obama is looking more desperate these days. The signs of
desperation are clearly visible—Obama playing to a half-packed house in
Miami, Obama using increasingly shrill arguments that his job creation
efforts are working, Geithner’s threats regarding the debt ceiling and
the Democrat-influenced mainstream media’s increasing criticisms of...
