Ansonia: The thundering of feet… nope, not Rudolph
Story & photos by Naiesha Thobe, Teen Scribe
No, it wasn't that popular reindeer galloping down the road early
Monday morning, but there was a loud thundering of feet and it did
signal the beginning of the 4th of July activities in Ansonia. The 5K
run had begun. Voices were awake and cheerful, despite the fact that it
was only 9:00 a.m. The 5K run drew in many participants, but only two
hours later attracted many more. The annual 4th of July parade went
through the heart of Ansonia to the pleasure of the citizens gathered
to watch. From there, people headed... Read More. More Community.

GREENVILLE COACHES CONTROVERSY
|
Lemons or Lemonade?
By Bob Rhoades
Last week I attended the Greenville City School board meeting with an
idea on how a committee could present the idea of a new school to the
general public and how to fund it. It was received very well and
I was later advised that we would probably move in that direction. I
didn’t realize that later on the fiasco over the non-renewal of the
contracts of two coaches was going to... Read More. More Opinion.

What it Means to be Free
By Christy L. Riley
America the beautiful and brave, your song sings true to my heart. Not
a moment goes by when I do not think of your trials and wars fought.
Not a day passes when I do not think of those who have died for the
very word Freedom. So let freedom ring. Freedom, what power such a word
holds in our hearts. What power this word holds to have caused so much
bloodshed, to bring about the very freedoms that many take for granted
today... Read More. More Teen Scribes. |

Is Democracy Viable?
By Thomas Sowell
The media have recently been so preoccupied with a Congressman’s
photograph of himself in his underwear that there has been scant
attention paid to the fact that Iran continues advancing toward
creating a nuclear bomb, and nobody is doing anything that is likely to
stop them. Nuclear weapons in the hands of the world’s leading sponsor
of international terrorism...

President Nixon, er, Obama
By Mona Charen
How many times have we heard awestruck references to Barack Obama’s
history as a law professor? Many came from the man himself, as when he
told a crowd at a 2007 fundraiser, “I was a constitutional law
professor, which means unlike the current president, I actually respect
the Constitution.” Does he? At his press conference on June 29, the
president...
