By Joe Payne, Greenville School District Board Member

However, just this Sunday morning a few of my parishioners greeted me
with sly smiles and said, “Nice Cartoon!” “What cartoon?” I asked. “You
know, the Ackley cartoon in the Advocate. You’re in a dunce cap!”
Hahaha. Oh well… In a way, I feel strangely flattered to be included in
a genuine Ackley editorial... Read More. More Opinion.

In debt talks, GOP suffers from lack of lead messenger
By Jake Sherman
Republicans think they have an easy message to sell to voters: Slash
the size of government and stop tax increases. But a sideshow has

Character Development
By Jackie Gingrich Cushman
I’m not sure how it started, but at some point over the past year, when
my children begin to relate some hardship in their lives -- tough
tests, tough teacher or coach -- I began responding that they should

Europe in the early 20th century, and from Latin America and Asia in
the last three decades. Going back in history, almost no one predicted
that these...
