Washington Post... Ohio does what D.C. does not
By Jennifer Rubin
Gov. John Kasich said the GOP-controlled Ohio Senate’s likely approval
today of a two-year, $55.7 billion budget is “historic,” although its
version differs from the budget Kasich proposed and the bill the House
passed last month. “We will go to conference committee, but I don’t
anticipate any major problems in there,” Kasich said following his
address to those attending the American Institute of Architects Ohio
Legislative Day at the Statehouse. “We’re all on the same wavelength,”
Kasich said. “There are some things that will have to be worked out,
but nobody would’ve thought we were going to balance... Read More. More News.

Preempting the New Year’s Resolution Madness... Getting Organized
By Kayla Lemar
Processes are my lifeblood. I spent most of my childhood summers
organizing “summer school” lessons for my younger siblings, a sure sign
that I longed for the order of school life. Changing classes, a
balanced load of assignments, easily defined due dates and
expectations—that’s what I live for. My need for... Read More. See More Teen Scribes. |

The Cancer of Regulation
By John Stossel
Politicians care about poor people. I know because they always say
that. But then why do they make it so hard for the poor to escape
poverty? Outside my office in New York City, I see yellow taxis. It’s
intuitive to think that government should license taxis to make sure
they’re safe and to limit their number. It’s intuitive to believe that
if anyone could just start picking up passengers...

Free Market, Not Government Policy, Drives Energy Boom
by Michael Barone
There’s an awful lot that’s stale in the debate on government energy
policy. Some stale arguments are nevertheless valid: It’s dangerous to
depend heavily on Middle Eastern oil. Others have increasingly been
seen as dubious: that global warming caused by human activity will
result in catastrophe. There’s stale talk about federal and state laws
that...

is in the news more and more often… not because of SB5, although that’s
part of it. It’s because a budget will likely pass this month closing
the “hole” without raising taxes. Washington can take a lesson from
this. Also in News:
