Common Sense Must Prevail
By Bob Robinson
I have a friend who has told me repeatedly that until we “ban” all
political parties the mess our country is in will not be fixed. While I
understand his perspective – we’ve debated it a few times – I always
get back to the same thing. If we have a thousand different points of
view, or in the case of nationally, a million or more, how would we
ever get a consensus? I would go to my neighbor and tell him/her…
“Yeah, I know, you and I disagree on this point, but we agree on most
others. Let’s pool our votes and you talk to a couple of your friends…
I’ll talk to a couple more of mine… until we... Read More. More Opinion.

WHY WE DON'T GET CLOSE

A tough reminder
By George Starks
Sports Editor
It was two days ago, Dan Weldon, the defending Indy 500 champion, lost
his life in a horrific crash in Las Vegas. While he was one of the many
drivers I’ve never met, his death serves as a grim reminder why sports
journalists don’t get close to these guys. Granted, if Tony Stewart,
Jeff Gordon, Ryan, Kasey or some of the others I do know were to lose
their lives, I would feel a sense of loss... Read More. More Sports.

PITSBURG - It didn’t take anyone long to realize it was going to be a
tight match between Franklin Monroe and Newton in their first round

Reagan Resoluteness, Too -- Not Simply Reagan Recovery
By Jackie Gingrich Cushman
“It’s the economy stupid” is the infamous mantra conceived by political
consultant James Carville that underscored the main issue driving the
1992 presidential race. A few months later, Bill Clinton replaced
George H.W. Bush (41) as president, and it was the focus on the economy
that got him there. Today, with lingering high unemployment (hovering
at 9... Read More. More Blogs. |
