|
Townhall... All the Bad
Parents Out There Raise Your Hand
By Marybeth Hicks
Ok, fess up. Are you a good parent or a bad one? Last week, bad parents

media for pouring hot sauce down your son’s throat, shaving your
daughter’s head for lying, or otherwise terrorizing the little ones in
your care, you’re not as bad as some. The story that typifies bad for
me bore this headline: “Brother and sister sue mom; claim emotional
distress and bad parenting.” That’s right. They sued their mom.
Siblings Steven and Kathryn Miner, now 23 and 20, respectively, filed
suit in 2009 claiming... Read More. More Events.

Mom’s Empty
Chair
From Dan Harless, Author Unknown
A woman’s daughter had asked the local minister to come and pray with
her mother. When the minister arrived, he found the woman lying in bed
with her head propped up on two pillows. An empty chair sat beside her
bed. The minister assumed that the woman had been informed of his
visit... ‘I guess you were expecting me, he said. ‘No, who are you?’
said the mother. The minister told her his name and... Read More. More Senior Scribes. |

Televised Violence
By Dorothy Gilbert
Teen Scribe
I believe TV violence does have an effect on the way people act. A
prime example of this would be UFC, also known as Underground Fighting
Championship. In the past few years I have just started hearing about
this UFC. The first time I heard of it, was in my freshmen year. I
overheard a couple of boys engaging in a conversation about the most
recent fight. As the conversation... Read More. More Teen Scribes. |

CRAFTING
SOMETHING WITH MY HANDS
|
Townhall...
The Value of
Work
By Jackie Gingrich Cushman

painted at elementary school. I carefully walked up the steps to the
front of our home, excited to show my mother what I had made and give
it to her. As I opened the screen door, I dropped my handcrafted
treasure, and it broke into pieces. I sat down and cried. My mother
found me a few minutes later, gathered me in her arms and...
