2012 - GREENVILLE TO LAY OFF FIRE DEPT PERSONNEL
|
And the Vicious Cycle begins
By Bob Rhoades
The
city of Greenville’s ill-advised decision to
lay off fire department personnel and cripple the ability of the Fire
Department to defend the city from fire is just the beginning of a
vicious
cycle that, once started, will be hard to stop.
Total proposed
reductions in the fire
department budget are $382,896. This
includes the elimination of the Asst.
Chief Position, 4 firefighters and the Secretary... Read

Lady

By
George Starks
GREENVILLE-
The Lady Wave offense got off to a slow start against the Greenville
alumni

scrimmage. The
Wave scored a late first half goal then scored three in the second
half, much
to the delight of Wave coach Justin Gonzalez. "We have a force out

RASMUSSEN REPORTS
|
Reviewing Last Week's Key Polls
For many Americans, this year’s presidential race couldn’t be clearer:
One candidate wants to expand the government’s role in the economy and
the business
world; the other claims he wants to reduce the size of that footprint.
Most
Americans don’t like the idea of the federal government playing
favorites in
the business world. Fifty-five percent (55%) of Likely U.S. Voters
think it
is not... Read

Paul
Ryan's Old-Fashioned American Vision
By Larry Kudlow
When
you think of Republican congressman Paul Ryan, terms
like earnest, serious, and important come to mind. So does the term
old-fashioned. Ryan comes from an old-fashioned place, the blue-collar
town of
Janesville, Wisconsin. He cherishes the old-fashioned values of a
faithful
family man. He even looks old-fashioned, with his white shirt...

GREAT
DARKE COUNTY FAIR COUNTDOWN... 3 DAYS TO GO
- TUESDAY, AUGUST 14,
2012 |
When
I was on Tiger Radio’s Community Ties for CNO last week, Alex Mikos
asked what was the most rewarding part about County News Online. That
was easy… helping kids meet their college expenses. I caught myself
trying to remember exactly how many scholarships the SSSF has to thank
our volunteers, businesses and individual sponsors for. I had lost
track. SSSF has helped 20 students reach their college goals since
2009. Total scholarship awards? $23,950. Thank you Darke County!!! Also
