Cheerleading event was four hours of pure energy
By Bob Robinson
Such energy. These kids were allowed four minutes for their performance
and they used just about every second of it. It was constant movement,
augmented often by gymnastics… somersaults, slides, jumps… you name it.
Such energy. The morning was spent getting ready, practicing, prepping
themselves and each other for the performance ahead. Shelby Schipps,
Tri-Village Senior, said they and the others had been... Read

REFORESTATION IN COSTA RICA |
C O S T A R I C A
By Delbert Blickenstaff, M.D.
On September 6, 1991 Wilbur (Red) Long, Martha, Louise and I planted
trees in a reforestation program at the University of Peace in Costa
Rica. Red had planted thousands of trees on his farm on Boyer Road here
in Darke County. I think that the prospect of planting trees on foreign
soil convinced him to go on this Elderhostel trip. While at the
University we heard lectures about past presidents... Read

Time to put our Faith in Action
By Kalista King
Though the new school year is approaching very quickly, we teens of
Darke County are not yet finished with our summer. Most teenagers this
week are probably finishing out their summer with wild parties and who
knows what else, but not us revivalists! We are finishing out our
summer with prayer and evangelism. What do I mean... Read

2000 UPPER INCOME PEOPLE LEAVING WEEKLY
|
Townhall…
There is no California
By Victor Davis Hanson
Driving across California is like going from Mississippi to
Massachusetts without ever crossing a state line. Consider the
disconnects: California's combined income and sales taxes are among the
nation's highest, but the state's deficit is still about $16 billion.
It's estimated that more than 2,000 upper-income Californians are
leaving per week to... Read

NOTES
& THOUGHTS
FROM
THE EDITOR... ON THE INSIDE - SUNDAY, AUGUST 19,
2012 |
Not
sure I understand why this is happening, but I’ve been told by a number
of people that they either no longer see the County News Online link at
the bottom of our nightly update, or if they do see it they click on it
and it doesn’t work. Weird, but as I’ve been noting for nearly two
weeks, technical issues have hampered our layout presence and increased
the time involved in posting. A new link has been provided. We are
actively pursuing a solution to these issues; in the meantime we
continue to get closer to the formats and time investment for each post
that we had become accustomed to. If you wish to receive these nightly
updates, click on the button at the top of the page. For
