Biddlestones present 2nd annual Wright Memorial Scholarship donation
Local business owners Darrel and Debbie Biddlestone presented their
second annual Fred Wright Memorial Scholarship check to the Senior
Scribes Scholarship Fund Friday at Darke County Parks’ Shawnee Prairie.
The donation, specifically noted as a Memorial Scholarship in honor of
the late Ralph “Fred” Wright, who passed away in 2006, will go to a
Darke County teen entering (or continuing in) a communications related
field at a college of his or her choice. The 2011 Memorial award went
to Margaret Prakel, Versailles High School graduate, who enrolled at
Notre Dame as a Communications major. “I was really pleased at your

CANDIDATE FOR COUNTY COMMISSIONER
|
Aaron Ward requests your support in the March Primary
I am Aaron Ward and I would appreciate your support in electing me as
Darke County Commissioner. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in
Financial Services and am an accomplished financial advisor. After more
than ten years in the financial field, my wife, Betsy, and I realized
that we were spending more time in corporate America and missing out on
our children’s lives, so we decided to make a change. We opened our own
small business and... Read

COVINGTON TOO MUCH

Bradford derailed on senior night
By George Starks
BRADFORD- Bradford threw everything but the kitchen sink at Covington
Friday in its Cross County Conference game with the Buccs. Maybe the
Railroaders should have included the sink. Bradford did everything it
could to slow down Covington Friday but when the final train whistle
blew, Covington had posted a 48-27 victory. The difference... Read

Steel-related bill to benefit Ohio

A proposed new law would require steel purchased by the U.S. military

Why Creative Writing?
(College Bound 2012)
by Elizabeth Horner
Why Creative Writing? A common question I have been asked as I
get busy with college applications. Here’s my thinking. Our body
is made up mostly of oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, etc., and when we die,
our bodies will decompose and become worm-food. I want something,
SOMETHING I can leave behind that says who I was and what I cared
about… and share the knowledge I have gained... Read

TIRED OF POLITICIANS DIVIDING AMERICANS
|
Townhall...
The Flaws of Mitt and Newt
by Steve Chapman
Newt Gingrich has an exquisitely sensitive moral antenna, and Mitt
Romney’s remark suggesting indifference to the poor sent it quivering.
“I am fed up with politicians in either party dividing Americans
against each other,” he said. Yes, he did. Then he fell on the floor
and laughed till he cried. For Gingrich to disavow divisiveness is the
equivalent of Mark Zuckerberg renouncing modern technology... Read

Santorum
takes the last three primaries/caucuses. That means just about all the
“players” in the Rep Primaries have won a state or two. Rasmussen shows
that Santorum has a better chance of beating Obama than Romney does,
yet Romney still seems to be the darling of the Rep elite. And they all
keep beating each other up. The talking heads are asking if the Reps
are giving Obama his game plan. This all may be interesting, folks, but
we need to remember the stakes come November. Also in News: Brown sold his stocks, wants colleagues to sell, too; Ohio Democrats losing battle of campaign coffers. Events: Masons... Spaghetti Dinner Benefit for Greenville Girls Softball. Blogs: The Frontrunner. For
