2012 - THAT'S MY OPINION
A lack of ethics
By Bob Robinson
Hurricane Sandy devastated the East Coast last week. Not having seen
much about the recovery efforts on the newscasts in the last couple of
days – I think I saw one follow-up on CBS – I did a search on the
Internet. Nothing. Well, almost nothing. The New York Times did a
story… but this is their turf. I would hope at least they would be
covering it. It was a story of waiting for help… and waiting… and
waiting… and waiting. This is a far cry from the almost hourly coverage
of the... Read

CONGRATULATIONS ON A GREAT SEASON
Sometimes, ignorance isn’t so blissful
By George Starks
As fate would have it, I was at the ‘after hours’ clinic Friday night
at Family Health being diagnosed with acute bronchitis. When I returned
home, I was able to get a short re-cap of the Bradford-Marion Local
playoff football game on the Internet. Then I heard a question asked
that made me want to jump into my computer and give someone a piece of
my mind. I...

BOEHNER IN WEST CHESTER
Ohio is Romney-Ryan Country
Speaker John Boehner welcomed Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan and GOP leaders to
his hometown of West Chester for a Victory Rally marking the beginning
of the final 72-hour push to Election Day. Boehner called the
event a “proud night” for West Chester, as well as a “call to action,”
and urged the thousands of Ohioans in attendance to do their part to
help win the Buckeye State for Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, Josh Mandel... Read

STATE REPRESENTATIVE JIM BUCHY
There's Nothing Good About Issue 2
On November 6th, voters in Ohio will face many important decisions at
the ballot box. This year, we're electing a president, a U.S. senator,
our congressmen, our representatives at the Statehouse, and many
important local elected leaders, as well. In addition to all these
choices, Ohioans face one other very important decision on Election
Day: whether or not to... Read

DARKE COUNTY COMMISSIONER MIKE STEGALL
Promoting the General Welfare
I read with interest Mr. Vic Bothast’s editorial (in the Daily
Advocate) on the federal government’s role in Healthcare. He
stated that the government was to provide health care to its citizens
because of the “general welfare” clause in the Preamble to the
Constitution. He could not be more wrong! The “general
welfare” clause is mentioned twice in the Constitution, once in the
preamble, and once in Article 1, Section 8...

Don’t squander Ohio’s role in the presidential election
Written by Brandi Barhite, Associate Editor
Here’s a prediction: Ohio might not always be a presidential swing
state. We might not always be the state to win. One day the Buckeye
State might not be worth the gazillions spent on television ads,
mailings, phone calls and every-other-day visits from the candidates.
Our population is declining; we are... Read
