Darke County and the Miami Valley have been experiencing extreme cold
temperatures since Sunday night, with lows reaching 5 degrees
Fahrenheit and wind chills as much as 10 degrees below zero. On Monday
it warmed up to 18 degrees with light snow. The dry blowing snow caused
multiple traffic incidents, including a 52-car pile-up on I-75. Several
Darke County residents reported their car doors were frozen shut.
