Wayne Hospital Foundation unveils Veterans Memorial
GREENVILLE – “This memorial is dedicated to every man and woman who
ever served honorably in a branch of the United States military.” No
distinction is made whether the service was one day or career, combat
or non-combat. The Wayne Hospital Foundation funded the Veterans
Memorial but also thanked David Furlong, president of Fitzwater Tree
and Lawn Care for his company’s generous donation of the water rock,
memorial plaque and labor to make the Memorial possible. The foundation
especially thanked those who served... Read

Attendance up at annual Veterans Day service
GREENVILLE – “We lost more of our veterans by their own hand than we
lost in Afghanistan,” said Dennis Dickey, 1st Vice President for the
American Legion 3rd District. “Only those who have been through what
many of these veterans have can understand that.” Dickey was the guest

As you head back to school, remember these things
With school starting back up for most students in our area, there are a
few things I’d like you to keep in mind this year. If you’re a high

in attending a Military Service Academy, you have until Friday, October
31, 2014, to apply for a nomination from my office. Call
513-779-5400 for more information. And college... Read

BROKE WIFE, BIG CITY
Bad Mom
By Aprill Brandon
I feel this should go without saying, but judging by the amount of hate
mail I’ve gotten recently, apparently it does, in fact, need to be
said. I love my son. More than anything. More than my own life. More

willing to kill for him if it comes down to it. Granted, the only
weapons in... Read

Addressing Infant
Mortality in Ohio
According to humanitarian organization Save the Children, the United
States has the highest first-day death rate for infants among
industrialized countries – more than 11,000 babies die within 24 hours
of their birth each year. It’s unthinkable. And each year in the U.S.,
there are more than 4,600 sudden unexpected infant deaths. What’s worse
– Ohio is near the bottom compared with other... Read

Common Core Repeal Bill
‘Sub HB 597’ a Campaign
Tool, Unlike Legitimate HB 237
By Diana Fessler
In August of 2013, Rep. Thompson (R-Marietta) introduced House Bill 237
to repeal Common Core (CC) in Ohio. The bill never budged. In an
attempt to give the bill some traction, Rep. John Adams (R-Sidney)
introduced a discharge petition. The bill still didn’t budge. Anytime
during the past year, Rep. Huffman... Read
