retired Greenville firefighter, is the first to offer a little history.

My first day as a firefighter was July 2, 1967.

LEVEL 2 ICE/SNOW EMERGENCY IN EFFECT

2, 2011 - DARKE COUNTY - A Level 2 Ice/Snow Emergency is in effect for Darke County.
LEVEL 2 SNOW EMERGENCY
A level two-snow advisory means that roadways are hazardous with
blowing and drifting snow. Roads can be very icy. Only those who feel
it is necessary to drive should be out on the roadways. People should
contact their employer to see if they should report to work. Obviously,
if you are driving, use extreme caution.

I plan ahead for the incoming weather. Try to get a few grocery
supplies in the house, even some potato chips, cookies, ice-cream
─ you know, the comfort food that adds calories (which I don't
need). But, so comforting! Just in case the power goes off and the
stove and microwave are powerless, the night before the storm advisory,
I fill two large thermos bottles with very hot water that I may use for

Lots of traffic
yesterday… people couldn’t go anywhere, so they used the time to
explore County News Online. For those who checked us out for the first
time… welcome! We hope you come back. I discovered something. CNO was posted late last night due to fears of power
failure. I liked it!! That will be my goal from here on out. Don’t know
yet about the Daily Update for subscribers and facebook… we’ll
see. We’re looking for photos and stories about our recent weather.
