Congressman Boehner Says “No Agreement”: Republicans Are Fighting For
The Largest Spending Cuts We Can Get
Apr 1, 2011
Washington - At a press conference today, Congressman John Boehner
(R-West Chester) said there is “no agreement” with Senate Democrats
(who have yet to pass a bill or offer a credible plan of their own) on
government funding and that Republicans are fighting for “the largest
spending cuts that we can get” to end the uncertainty facing small
businesses. Below is a link to the video and Boehner’s full remarks:
“Today’s jobs report is welcome news, but Washington needs to do a lot
more to end the uncertainty and get our economy moving again. It’s
clear that we need to cut spending; we need to stop unnecessary
regulations, end the threat of tax hikes, and pass the trade bills that
are out there. These are the pillars of the Republican plan that will
actually create jobs in America.
“Listen, it’s been 41 days since the [House] has acted. We also know
that this excessive spending creates uncertainty and leads to employers
sitting on their hands. Forty-one days, they’ve done nothing; they
haven’t passed a plan, they haven’t put a plan forward in terms of what
they’re going to do to cut spending. And I think it’s time for them to
get serious about it.
“Republicans are listening to the American people and listening to
their top two priorities: they want jobs in America and they want to
stop the excessive spending that continues to go on here in
Washington. As I said yesterday, there is no number; there is no
agreement on a number. We are going to fight for the largest spending
cuts that we can get, and I’m hopeful that we’ll get it as soon as
possible.”
