Agenda

Congressman Boehner: Bipartisan Efforts To Rein In EPA, Stop
Job-Crushing National Energy Tax Gain Momentum With House Vote
Washington - Congressman John Boehner (R-West Chester) issued the
following statement after the House voted to protect jobs and rein in
the Environmental Protection Agency’s backdoor national energy tax:
“It is
encouraging that bipartisan majorities in the House and Senate have
voted to rein in the EPA, and a clear indication of the American
people’s continued opposition to a job-crushing national energy
tax. The Obama Administration should heed the will of the
Congress and the people by abandoning efforts to impose a job-crushing
national energy tax and accept legislation to prevent similar efforts
in the future. As part of our American Energy Initiative, the new
House majority will continue working to end the uncertainty job
creators are facing from the national energy tax and other Washington
regulations that threaten to drive up prices further and destroy more
jobs. Our committees are also actively engaged in efforts to
expand American energy production to help lower costs and create more
jobs.”
NOTE: Today, the
House passed H.R. 910, the Energy Tax Prevention Act, which the Obama
Administration has threatened to veto. Yesterday in the Senate,
“more than 60 senators voted in favor of four amendments that, to one
degree or another, would restrain the EPA,” according to Senate
Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).
