Greenville City Auditor Nancy Myers speaks to the Darke County Republican Women’s Club at the recent “Meet the Republican Candidates” night held at the club’s regular monthly meeting. Myers will be on the May 3 Republican Primary ballot for re-election.

“I have spent 31 years with the city of Greenville” stated Greenville City Auditor Nancy Myers as she addressed the Darke County Republican Women’s Club (DRWC) at their recent regular monthly meeting. “As auditor, I deal with all city departments and work with the city economic development committee.”

The DCRWC invited the Republican candidates, whose names will appear on the Republican primary ballot on May 3, to speak. There are two candidates for Greenville Mayor: incumbent Mayor Mike Bowers and Current City Council member Doug Schmidt. In addition to Myers, other candidates are incumbent Greenville City Councilman for Ward Four John Baumgardner and candidate for First Ward of Greenville City Council Kate Buchy Kerg.

Bowers, Schmidt and Myers were in attendance and spoke to the group regarding their qualifications and desire to represent the Republican Party in the November general election. The other candidates had schedule conflicts.

“We’ve got a wonderful town here – a great community – we need to rebuild our pride and concentrate on listening to the people.” stated Bowers. “I hope people will recognize the good track record I have for economic expansion, retention and development.”

“I’m hoping to help with job retention. It is huge. We have a great workforce, we need to keep the jobs here.” said Schmidt. “I’ve been on council for eight years and was with GTI for 18 years. I now run my own business.”

Jesse Green, Republican candidate for Municipal Court judge, will not be on the Republican primary ballot on May 3. He will be running in the November General Election. Green was also extended the opportunity to say a few words to the group.

“Choosing the right spouse is probably the most important decision any of us make in our lives.” stated Green, as he went on to tell the group about a recent “April Fool’s” day joke he played on his wife.

Darke County residents may vote for any Republican candidates in the May 3 primary election by asking for a Republican ballot when voting. Absentee voting has already begun. Voters may currently request a ballot be mailed to them, or they may go to the Board of Elections, 300 Garst Avenue, Greenville and vote during regular business hours of 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. For questions you may call the Board at (937) 548-1835 or email them at: darke@sos.state.oh.us

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the DCRWC is at 6:30 p.m. May 9 at the Chestnut Village Center of the Brethren Home Retirement Community. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. For more information regarding the club, reservations or membership, please contact President Sally Hole Zeiter at (937) 423-2391 or by email at DCRWPresident@darkegop.org.
