Report:
More NCAA allegations for Ohio
St.
Thursday, August 11, 2011
The
Ohio State University football
program could face a second round of NCAA violation allegations
unrelated to
the problems that forced coach Jim Tressel to retire in May, according
to ESPN
.
The
sports network reported on its Web
site that sources said the NCAA has sent a letter to the Buckeyes
stating that
it continues to investigate the program, and that it may be a prelude
to a
second official Notice of Allegations.
The
violations that surfaced this year
included players selling memorabilia and Tressel allegedly hiding the
fact from
the university and NCAA investigators. Those reports cost him his job
and the
team had to vacate all its wins last year.
If
a new round of allegations come up,
it could put more pressure on the program, which has so far shed the
bulk of
the blame onto Tressel.
