Introducing…
George Starks &
CNO Sports Coverage
County News Online readers have probably noticed a steadily increasing
number of volunteer contributors to CNO content. We’ve had local
contributions to Teen Scribes, Senior Scribes, Community, Events,
Opinion and News.
Much of it comes from organizations wishing for exposure to their
events and programs; but much of it also comes from volunteers – adults
and young people – who simply want to inform readers about what’s going
on in their communities and their lives.
CNO is proud today to offer beginning sports coverage for its readers,
and welcome former Advocate Asst. Sports Editor George Starks to its
family of contributors.
While a volunteer news and information site like County News Online
will never compete with staff coverage throughout the county, there are
areas CNO will excel in. Thanks to George, one of those areas will now
be Sports.
Starks is a popular name and face in Darke County Sports. He has a
great report with young athletes and high school coaches, and a
tremendous background of experience in nearly all high school sporting
events.
He, along with former Sports Editor Ron Greeson, were “the” sports team
in Darke County long before Bob Robinson’s arrival as Advocate Managing
Editor, and did the formidable job of covering more than 40 teams and
events each year with limited outside help.
Today’s offering on Wave Girls Soccer kicks off a great CNO season for
2011-2012 sports. Watch for his interview Thursday on Green Wave
football.
