University of Dayton international enrollment hits record

The University of Dayton  will welcome more than 1,000 international students for the start of fall classes this week – a school record.

About 10,000 graduate and undergraduate students are enrolled at the university, and about one in 10 hail from another country, said Sundar Kumarasamy, vice president of UD enrollment management.

Most international students — about 50 percent — come from China.

The university set another attendance record last year with its largest incoming class since the Vietnam War era with 1,050 students. About the same number of first-year students are expected this school year, according to the university.

First-year students moved into residence halls this past weekend and classes for all students begin Wednesday.
