Boehner
names Turner conferee on
defense authorization bill

U.S.
Rep Mike Turner has been named as
a conferee on the National Defense Authorization Act, which will
outline the
Defense Department budget for the current fiscal year.
Turner,
R-Centerville, was named to
the spot Thursday by House Speaker John Boehner, R-West Chester,
according to a
news release.
As
a conferee, Turner will be
responsible for helping to craft the final form of the law, which
reconciles
the House and Senate passed versions.
“This
legislation sets policy across
the Department of Defense and the uniformed services,” Turner said.
Turner,
who is chairman of the House
Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces, touts that he has
placed a
number of provisions in the House bill which stand to benefit service
members
and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base
.
That includes provisions which enhance leadership at the Air Force
Institute of
Technology and the Air Force Research Lab; meet the airspace needs for
Unmanned
Aerial Systems; and halts the transfer of jobs related to the
Enterprise
Logistics System Program at Wright-Patt.
