billion Apple apps downloaded in
month

Apple
Inc. said there have been 15
billion software applications downloaded from its App Store, a billion
more
than it reported a month ago.
The
company also confirmed it now has
more than 100,000 native apps designed specifically for its iPad tablet
among
the 425,000 apps available in the App Store.
Apple
said it now has more than 200
million users of its mobile iOS software on its iPad, iPhone and iPod
touch.

More
businesses are utilizing apps to
draw in more tech-savvy customers. In the Dayton region, companies such
as
Huntington Bancshares Inc. , Wright-Patt Credit Union and the Dayton
Business
Journal have apps for both Apple devices, as well as Google Inc. ‘s
Android
products and Research in Motion ‘s Blackberry devices.
Apple
also said Thursday it has paid
app developers over $2.5 billion to date.
