Congressman Boehner Applauds Ohio Budget
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman John Boehner (R-West Chester) released
the following statement applauding Governor Kasich and the Ohio
Legislature for closing Ohio’s $8 billion budget shortfall without
raising taxes and calling on the president to show similar leadership
in Washington:
“This evening, Governor Kasich will sign legislation closing Ohio’s $8
billion budget shortfall without a tax increase. The governor’s actions
are bringing fiscal common sense back to the Buckeye State. The
American people are waiting for a similar common-sense approach to be
taken in Washington, where the president and his party are demanding
job-crushing tax increases along with an increase in the nation’s debt
ceiling. The new majority in the U.S. House of Representatives has
heard the people and will stand with the people. A bill that raises the
debt ceiling and raises taxes instead of dramatically reducing and
reforming government spending cannot pass the House. It’s time for the
president and his party to listen to the people and follow the model of
governors like John Kasich by cutting spending instead of raising
taxes.”
