Kool-Aid latest in
fried food frenzy

Enterprising restaurateurs could learn a thing or two from Charlie
Boghosian, a food vendor at the San Diego County Fair.
Boghosian, known as “Chicken Charlie,” about two weeks ago came into
the limelight when he introduced the nation to fried Kool-Aid.
Overnight, he became a culinary sensation.
Fried Kool-Aid, as you can imagine, is a deep-fried ball of dough
packed with Kool-Aid powder and is the latest innovation in the
ever-popular fried food industry.
For years, mobile food vendors have lured in passerby with increasingly
creative fried concoctions. Everything from Twinkies to Oreos to, yes,
even butter, has been thrown into a deep fryer. Boghosian himself even
offers a Krispy Kreme Chicken Sandwich — two deep-fried doughnuts
sandwiching a chicken breast.
These food creations certainly aren’t the healthiest: Your
dentist/doctor/mom would cringe at the thought of you eating them. But
they are popular — and tasty. And tasty sells.
That probably comes as no surprise to the owners and staff of
Harrison’s restaurant in Tipp City. Harrison’s offers its own deep
fried masterpiece — a Snicker’s Roll. The Snicker’s Roll is more than a
deep fried Snickers bar. Rather, it’s a Snickers bar wrapped in
cheesecake, then deep fried.
Game on, Chicken Charlie.
