Governor Kasich’s Week in Review

·         Gov. John R. Kasich visited Haessly Hardwood Lumber Company in Marietta with Rep. Andy Thompson to meet with company employees and local officials and discuss The Jobs Budget.

·         Kasich joined Reps. Danny Bubp and Terry Johnson at West Union High School in Adams County where he discussed the ongoing battle against prescription drug abuse and signed a resolution declaring June 2011 as “Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention Month” in Ohio.

·         Kasich pledged $750,000 in state aid to the citizens of Gallia, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross, Scioto and Vinton counties to help repair damages from recent flash flooding.

·         Kasich praised members of the Ohio Senate for unveiling a budget that fills Ohio’s unprecedented $8 billion budget gap without increasing taxes.

Wednesday, June 1, 2011

·         Kasich appointed Dan T. Moore and Bernardo Francisco Moreno to the Cleveland State University Board of Trustees, Evann Katherine Heidersbach to the Ohio State University Board of Trustees, Dr. Thomas M. Bobst to the State Board of Optometry and William D. Wells to the Franklin Park Conservatory Joint Recreation District Board.

·         Kasich issued a resolution designating June 2011 as “Fatherhood Month” in Ohio.

Thursday, June 2, 2011

·         Kasich signed House Bill 95 (Stautberg), legislation modernizing Ohio’s utility regulation environment and providing incentives to increase investment in utilities, while preserving safeguards to protect ratepayers.

·         Kasich appointed Dennis J. Adkins to serve as Judge of the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas.

·         Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor promoted CSI Ohio while delivering remarks to the Darke County and Vandalia-Butler chambers of commerce at meetings in Greenville and Dayton.

Friday, June 3, 2011

·         The Small Business Administration agreed to Kasich’s request to issue low-interest loans to businesses in Gallia, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross, Scioto and Vinton counties damaged by the severe storms and flash flooding that occurred May 10-11, 2011.

·         Kasich appointed Jeffrey R. Rohlf to the Ohio Optical Dispensers Board and Davis Kristopher Powers to the Washington State Community College Board of Trustees.
