Drug Investigation
leads to Arrest
Arcanum – On May 9th, 2011 at approximately 4:38 PM, the Darke County
Drug Task Force, in conjunction with deputies from the Darke County
Sheriff’s Office and detectives from the Greenville Police Department
conducted a narcotics investigation in the Arcanum area.
Earlier in the day the Darke County Drug Task Force received a tip
about a narcotics transaction that was to take place in Darke County
near the Arcanum Area. The Darke County Drug Task Force monitored
the area and observed the previous described suspects as reported and
observed the narcotics transaction take place.
Members of the Darke County Drug Task Force then attempted to stop one
of the suspect vehicles and a short pursuit ensued. When the
driver complied by pulling over, one occupant was arrested at the scene
without incident; Anthony D. Cammack, a 20 year old black male from of
Dayton, OH.
Mr. Cammack was transported to the Darke County Jail where he was
booked in on Drug Trafficking charges. As Mr. Cammack was being
booked in, $1,200 in cash was found, which had been stuffed down his
underwear. It was learned that the amount of money recovered was
the amount of money that was transferred between parties when the
transaction took place.
Additionally, Mr. Cammack was recently arrested on March 10th, 2011 for
his involvement in similar drug trafficking charges as a result of a
previous drug investigation which was conducted by the Greenville
Police Department. On those charges, Mr. Cammack pled guilty and
was found guilty. Mr. Cammack was released on bond awaiting
sentencing on those charges, which was schedule to take place on May
31st, 2011 in the Darke County Common Pleas Court.
Mr. Cammack remains incarcerated in the Darke County Jail on Felony
Drug Trafficking charges where he awaits his initial appearance in the
Darke County Common Pleas Court.
The investigation continues.
