Greenville School officials were in a celebratory mood, and Greenville
Mayor Mike Bowers was quietly pleased at the election results. Both won
their respective contests Tuesday night.
Bowers won by nearly a 3 to 1 margin, 72 percent to 28 percent with
1108 votes cast. The Greenville Schools renewal operating levy passed
by more than a 2 to 1 margin, 67 percent to 33 percent with 3116 votes
cast.
Bowers told CNO that he was pleased and appreciative of the voters’
confidence in him.
“I’m very excited about the results of the election,” he said. “I’m
ready to move forward for the next four years.”
Greenville School officials were elated at the support of the voters
in their levy renewal, noting it was higher than it has been historically.
“We were reasonably confident it would pass,” said Board Member Joe
Payne, “but we’re really pleased at the degree to which it passed.” He
noted that in past elections the support was more in the area of 62
percent to 38 percent.
In other election results, the New Madison Library Levy passed by
more than a 2 to 1 margin, 378 to 152. The Versailles (Worch Memorial
Public Library) Levy failed 499 to 599. The Bradford General Funds
Levy, Darke County overlap, failed 20 to 25. The Butler Township
Cemetery Levy passed 95 to 86.
