One Careflighted in 2-vehicle crash near Ansonia
Ansonia – On November 8, 2011 at approximately 2:04 p.m. Darke County
911 received a call in reference to a two vehicle injury accident on SR
49 and Ansonia Elroy Rd. Darke County Deputies were dispatched to
the scene along with Ansonia Fire and Rescue and Greenville City Fire.
Initial investigation revealed that a 2005 Buick, driven by James
Perkins (79) of Ansonia, was southbound on SR 49. Perkins was
making a left turn on to Ansonia Elroy Rd. Perkins failed to
yield the right-of-way and turned in front of a 2007 Chevy SUV driven
by Donna Bozarth (61) of Ft. Recovery, which was northbound on SR
49.
Bozarth’s vehicle struck Perkins’ vehicle. Perkins vehicle spun
around and came to rest while Bozarth’s vehicle went off the right side
of the road and went out into a field approximately seventy-five yards.
Bozarth was treated by Ansonia Rescue and was transported to Wayne
Hospital. Casandra Gagle (41) of Ft. Recovery, was a passenger in
Bozarth’s vehicle. Gagle was treated by Ansonia Rescue and was
transported to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight. Perkins was
not injured in the crash.
At this time the accident remains under investigation by the Darke
County Sheriff’s Office. Charges are pending in the investigation.
