Investigation
continues into Darke Co. house fire
DARKE COUNTY, Ohio — The investigation continues into the cause of a
house fire that happened Sunday in Darke County.
The fire happened on Hamilton Road, which is located in an area known
as Coletown between Union City and Greenville on State Route 571.
Fire officials said it appears that the fire started in an attached
garage and spread to the house, resulting in substantial damage to the
house.
Authorities said everyone managed to escape the fire without injury.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The fire happened on what was the first day of National Fire Prevention
Week. Ironically, the theme this year is “Protect Your Family From
Fire.”
The most common causes of house fires include cooking, heating,
electrical malfunctions, smoking materials and candles.
Last week in Sidney, an overloaded electrical extension cord is blamed
for an apartment fire. The fire displaced 17 people living in the 10
apartments. They all escaped without injuries.
