Secretary
of State Jon Husted...
Most
populous counties announced for
Congressional Districts
October 1, 2011
COLUMBUS
– Secretary of State Jon
Husted today announced the most populous counties for each of the 16
new
Congressional districts for Ohio.
“Ensuring
we take the steps necessary
to adequately prepare for our elections is priority one for my office.
One of
the best ways we can achieve this goal is to provide essential
information to
voters and candidates in a timely manner,” Secretary Husted said. “In
light of
the shift in Ohio’s population and the resulting loss of two
Congressional
seats, we felt it important to communicate this information to those
participating in the signature gathering process.”
To
file as a candidate for Congress,
individuals must collect signatures from registered voters living in
the
district they wish to represent. The information being released today
will
offer guidance for those individuals running for Congress in 2012 by
providing
information that will help to avoid confusion when collecting
signatures to
file as a candidate. The filing deadline for Congressional candidates
appearing
for party nomination in the March primary election is December 7, 2011.
