DARKE CO., Ohio -- Two people from Troy were seriously injured when their SUV collided with a semi truck Saturday morning in Darke County.

At about 7:40 a.m., the SUV pulled into the intersection of Hogpath Road and U.S.127 and into the path of the tractor-trailer. “Fog was extremely heavy at the time of the crash,” said Sgt. Steve Royer of the Darke County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies identify the driver as David C. Dorsey, 20, and his passenger Shanna M. Myers, 28, were taken by Miami Valley Hospital’s MICU’s (Mobile Intensive Care Unit). CareFlight was called to the scene, but could not fly because of the fog.

Dorsey is in critical condition at MVH, Myers is listed in stable condition. The truck driver, Dale T. Lambeth, 60, of Eaton, was not injured.

A neighbor, Darlene Delk, awaken by the crash said, “It sounded like a big explosion.”

She called 911 and reported the crash. She also told dispatchers about the density of the fog.

The crash remains under investigation.
