Gov. John R. Kasich participated in the “Call to Duty” ceremony for Alpha Battery 1-134th FA of the Ohio National Guard in Marion. 

Monday, September 12, 2011 

Kasich, along with Commerce Director David Goodman, and State Fire Marshall Larry Flowers, participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the State Fire Marshall’s headquarters in Reynoldsburg, recognizing and remembering firefighters who have fallen in the last year. 

Kasich appointed Virginia M. Lindseth, Ph.D., to serve as a member of the Ohio Board of Regents. 

Tuesday, September 13, 2011 

Kasich appointed Grace Ramos to serve as a member of the Wright State University Board of Trustees, Mark Ridenour and David Budig to serve as members of the Miami University Board of Trustees, Leonard Hubert to serve as a member of the Ohio Civil Rights Commission, and Roland Bauer to serve as a member of the University of Akron Board of Trustees. 

Wednesday, September 14, 2011 

Kasich met with the three credit rating agencies, Fitch, Standard and Poor’s, and Moody’s in New York to discuss Ohio’s economic outlook. 

Kasich reappointed William Wells to serve as a member of the Franklin Park Conservatory Recreation District Board. 

Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor spoke at the Association of Ohio Life Insurance Companies Annual Fall Conference Dinner. 

Thursday, September 15, 2011 

Kasich attended the grand opening of Battelle’s new Center for Life Sciences Research in West Jefferson. 

Kasich appointed Scott Crislip to serve as a member of the Ski Tramway Board, Mayor Donald Kuchta, Stephen Hightower, and John Hull to serve as members of the Petroleum Underground Storage Tank Release Compensation Board, and Larry Long to serve as a member of the 9-1-1 Council. 

Taylor discussed the Common Sense Initiative and her concerns with the impact of the federal healthcare law on Ohio at the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber. 

Taylor spoke at the Cornerstone Broker Insurance Services Agency Annual Broker Expo, and discussed the Department of Insurance and efforts to improve the regulatory environment for the industry. 

Friday, September 16, 2011 

Kasich reappointed Julia Bates and Sheriff Dwight Radcliff to serve as members of the Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission and appointed Philip King to serve as a student member of the Northeast Ohio Medical University Board of Trustees.
