Severe thunderstorms
strike in the Miami Valley
Several reports of downed trees and power lines came pouring into the
News Center 7 newsroom on Saturday night while power crews worked to
restore power to about 1,200 customers across several counties.
Tornado sirens went off in Greenville around 8:30. Darke County
dispatchers told us the city set the sirens off, even though there
wasn’t a tornado warning or watch in effect.
A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Darke County, but weather
officials said they had seen no evidence of funnel cloud.
Greenville received damage from 60 mile per hour wind gusts and 1 inch
diameter hail. It’s likely straight line winds went through the area.
No reports of any injuries because of the storm.
