Injury Accident
on North 49; two airlifted
On April 6, 2012 at approximately 6:24 p.m. Darke County Sheriff’s
Deputies, along with Ansonia Fire & Rescue, Union City Rescue,
Greenville Rescue and CareFlight were dispatced to SR49 at Beamsville
Union City Road. in reference to a two vehicle injury accident.
Preliminary investigation showed that a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan driven
by Justin Kremer, 24, Ansonia, Ohio was eastbound on Beamsville Union
City Road. at the intersection of SR49. A 2005 Chrysler Town
& Country driven by David Wendel, 51, Fort Recovery, Ohio was
northbound on SR 49 approaching the intersection of Beamsville Union
City Road. Kremer failed to yield from a clearly marked stop sign
colliding with Wendel’s vehicle. Wendel’s vehicle traveled
off the right side of the roadway and struck a utility pole.
Kremer’s vehicle came to rest north of the intersection.
David Wendel and his passenger Carla Wendel, 46, Fort Recovery, Ohio
were airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight. A third
passenger Justin Wendel, 20, Fort Recovery, Ohio was taken to Wayne
Hospital by Union City Rescue.
Justin Kremer and his 14 month old child was treated at the scene by
Ansonia Rescue and released.
This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s
Office.
