Dayton gas
prices hit $4 mark
by Joe Cogliano
Thursday, April 5, 2012
Motorists across the Dayton region are starting to pay $4 a gallon at
the gas pump.
More than a dozen gas stations have raised prices to $3.99 in the last
24 hours and others getting are close, according to
daytongasprices.com. Nationally, motorists are paying an average of
$3.94, according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report.
However, despite the higher prices at some stations, the AAA report
still shows a $3.80 average price for regular gasoline in the
Dayton-area. That price, which is for regular gasoline, is up from
$3.70 a week ago.
The highest recorded average price in the Dayton area was $4.17 in May,
2011, according to AAA.
Economists say big spikes in gas prices can damage the nation’s
economy, and some speculate that prices will pass the $5 mark this
summer.
