Timeline: Winter weather arrives in region

SOUTHWEST OHIO — The Southwest Ohio and Eastern Indiana regions are under a Winter Weather Advisory through 10 p.m. Friday. The area is under a wind advisory through 4 p.m. Friday. The following is a timeline of weather events as they are reported to and by Storm Center 7.

5:12 a.m.: Dayton Power and Light is reported 233 customers without power in Montgomery County, 19 outages in Greene County, 37 in Miami County, 22 in Clinton County, 10 in Warren County, 9 in Preble County, 5 in Champaign County, 2 in Clark County, and one customer without power in each of Darke and Shelby counties.

4:18 a.m.: Preble County dispatchers said U.S. 127 will be closed near Kayler Road due to downed wires in the area. No time estimate was given on when the repairs will be made.

2:35 a.m. Friday: Eaton emergency dispatchers are reporting a downed tree across wires on Park Avenue near the intersection of Hubble Street. Police currently have Park Avenue closed near the downed tree, and it will remain closed until DP&L; can repair the lines.

Snow covered roads are being reported in Darke County on Ohio 49.

The Dayton International Airport website is showing all departing and arriving flights on schedule.

Power outages continue to affect many people across the area.

10:16 p.m.: Eighteen Ohio Department of Transportation trucks in District 7 (Montgomery, Mercer, Darke, Auglaize, Shelby, Miami, Champaign, Logan and Clark) have been dispatched and are now treating roadways, according to a dispatcher in the local station and ODOT spokeswoman Mandi Abner. Drivers are depositing a beet juice and salt brine mixture in anticipation of the forecast, which is calling for light snow and falling temperatures throughout the night. Most current power outage report, according to Dayton Power & Light, Ohio Edison and Duke Energy, is as follows: 379 in Montgomery County, 232 in Logan, 139 in Greene, 103 in Clark, 128 in Darke, 74 in northern Warren and 533 in all of the county, less than five in Champaign, 14 in Preble, seven in Miami and 157 for all of Butler.

8:12 p.m.: Power outages continue, but are dropping in number throughout the Miami Valley. There is at least one report of a tree that fell onto a car and into a house in Miamisburg. No one was injured. Here are the numbers thus far: 543 in Montgomery County, 352 in Greene, 319 in Clark, 129 in Darke, 72 in Warren, 65 in Champaign, 34 in Preble and 11 in Miami. Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Jamie Simpson reports that wind gusts in the area are reaching 55 mph.

6:20 p.m.: There have been numerous reports of trees and wires down throughout the Miami Valley, from Perry Twp. to Miamisburg, from Dayton to Miami Twp. We’re also tracking an unconfirmed report that most of Urbana, in Champaign County, is without power. According to flightview.com, Dayton International Airport is reporting general departure delays at the gate lasting 15 minutes or less. Arriving traffic is experiencing airborne delays of 15 minutes or less.

5:50 p.m.: News Center 7’s Jessica Heffner reports that police and fire in Springfield have gone to generator power because they have lost power. Elsewhere throughout the Miami Valley, outages have begun to soar. Here are the numbers thus far: 4,611 in Montgomery County; 1,615 in Greene; 1,571 in Champaign; 45 in Darke, 10 in Miami and two in Clark. Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Jamie Simpson reports that wind gusts in the area are reaching 55 mph.

4:42 p.m.: Winds have picked up as a wind advisory for all areas has been in effect for the greater part of an hour. DP&L; is reporting 22 outages in Montgomery County, 50 in Greene County and less than five in various other counties around Montgomery. Duke Energy is reporting more than 300 outages in Butler County and more than 1,700 in Hamilton County. Ohio Edison is reporting less than five outages in Clark County at this time.

3 p.m.: Winds are going to pick up in the next few hours. 50mph+ gust just reported out of Indianapolis. - Meteorologist Rich Wirdzek via twitter, @richwirdzek

2:30 p.m.: Flights from Chicago to arrive in Dayton at Dayton International Airport are delayed, according to departure and arrival boards at the airport at 2:30 p.m. today. - Reporter Yuna Lee via twitter, @YunaLeeWHIO

1:36 p.m.: Just west of Indianapolis a line of showers with the cold front is developing, and they could strengthen into some thunderstorms. If this happens they could bring us our first strong winds upwards or more than 50 miles per hour in the 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. time frame. - Chief Meteorologist Jamie Simpson

1:17 p.m.: A high-wind warning has been issued for Randolph County, Ind. until 7 a.m. All other counties remain under the previously released wind advisory through 4 p.m. Friday. - Chief Meteorologist Jamie Simpson
