County News
Online Candidate Questionnaire
Last month, County News Online sent out a questionnaire to each of the
candidates in three contested Primary elections: Darke County Clerk of
Courts, Darke County Juvenile/Probate Judge and Darke County
Commissioner.
Candidates were given four questions with approximately a month in
which to respond. The questions were as follows: 1) Personal and
professional information about yourself; 2) Describe the duties,
as you see them, for the office you are seeking, and your
qualifications for fulfilling those duties; 3) What do you feel
are the top three challenges of the office that you can address better
than your opponent; and 4) Summarize why you should receive the
vote on March 6.
The deadline was midnight Sunday, Feb. 12, for the responses to be
emailed to CNO, and the required format was MS Word. Candidates were
advised that late responses, or responses in formats that could not be
read would be discarded. Every effort was made to assure delivery of
the questionnaire to each candidate.
Answers were to be limited to 100 words or less for each question.
Responses are being published today (Clerk of Courts), Wednesday
(Juvenile/Probate Judge) and Thursday (Commissioner). Placement will be
side-by-side, left-to-right, alphabetically by last name.
Answers to questions are being published exactly as received with no
editing for content or grammar.
The public is invited to the annual Darke County Republican Mens Club
Saturday at 8 a.m., Employee Cafeteria of the Brethren Retirement
Community, at which time all Republican candidates for public office –
contested and uncontested – will be invited to speak to those present.
There is a $6 charge for a buffet breakfast, so come early and enjoy
the food and discussion time with other members and guests prior to the
beginning of the meeting.
